ACOUSTIC BARRIERS

As a result of numerous enquiries regarding domestic and commercial noise problems; Sound Planning has teamed up with a number of high quality fencing/barrier manufacturers who have developed many types of acoustic barrier system.

Pictured right is an example of a timber reflective acoustic fence.

Sound Planning can call out on location to assess your particular noise problem if requested.

A Sound Planning Engineer will call out to site and monitor road traffic noise for a 3 hour period, this CRTN (Control of Road Traffic Noise) measurement period can be converted into a 16 hour daytime level (LAeq16hour) with comparison to W.H.O (World Health Organisation) guideline criteria for acceptable community noise levels.

Dayime levels (16 hours) exceeding 50-55dB(A) are considered unacceptable. This information can be used to support planning applications with regard to acoustic barrier installation.

There is an associated fee, this includes call out, noise survey analysis, report & acoustic barrier design; Acoustic Barrier Reports start at £500.00 (+VAT) for surveys conducted within a 50 mile radius of Farnham.

Noise pollution, defined as 'unwanted sound' is a major problem for modern society. The need for protection from noise pollution is not only desirable, under certain circumstances it can be essential, as continued exposure to high and sustained levels of noise can cause damage to hearing, irritability and loss of concentration. Common sources of noise are roads, railways, heavy machinery and construction sites - There is an appropriate barrier for each noise situation. Absorptive, Acrylic and Hybrid acoustic barriers are pictured below.
