Noise Impact Assessments & Acoustic Enclosures

Sound Planning provides a comprehensive range of noise and vibration consultancy and engineering services in the United Kingdom. We specialise in the design and supply of sound enclosures and noise control products; to absorb noise, blocking it from entering or leaving the premises.

Why Do We Need to Reduce Noise?

Noise in the workplace, neighbourhood, school or any other community can be distracting: it can limit communication, reduce performance and hinder productivity.

Noise pollution is prevalent in most factories and on construction sites: commonly caused by vehicles, air conditioners, high-powered equipment, people, etc.

Acoustic Enclosures

As a closed engineering structure that is designed to reduce, minimise or attenuate noise from different types of equipment or machinery including air conditioners, refrigeration units, generators, compressors, pumps or even gear boxes, acoustic enclosures provide four main functions: sound isolation, sound absorption, vibration isolation and vibration absorption.

Acoustic enclosures have separate control solutions for different kinds of noise. These include acoustic walls, doors, louvres, barriers and screens – each component is designed for an exact application.

Constructed with high performing acoustic panels, acoustic louvres and air exhaust duct attenuators, our enclosures are designed to reduce noise of up to 30 dB (insertion loss) and can be powder coated to any BS (British Standard) or RAL colour.

Different Types of Acoustic Enclosure from Sound Planning

  • Air Compressor Acoustic Housing - Acoustic Plant Room
Acoustic Consultancy Services

With a consultancy team that is comprised of members of the Institute of Acoustics, Sound Planning uses UKAS – Type 1 Sound Level Meters and Accelerometers for all noise assessments: this is standard for environmental noise monitoring and vibration measurements.

Our acoustic consultants also perform different types of noise assessment and monitoring services:

  • BS 4142
Rating industrial noise that affects mixed residential and industrial areas
  • BS 8233
Guidance on sound insulation and noise reduction for buildings
  • BS 5228
Noise and vibration control on construction and open sites
  • BS 6472
Guide to evaluation of human exposure to vibration in buildings
  • Noise at Work
The control of noise in compliance with work regulations
  • Entertainment Noise
Noise from pubs, clubs and events
  • Sound Insulation Noise Tests
Internal noise testing for building control ADE (Approved Document E) 2000
